Christmas Yearnings in July

The Facebook Santa

Become a fan of Santa on Facebook!

We’re under a heat warning in Missouri but I posted a question on Santa’s Facebook fan page which I manage – what do you want for Christmas? I received over 35 comments from all over the world. The comments reflected the economic distress of our nation with families asking for jobs for mom or dad, and a reminder that we’re in a war.

Tiffany in Dallas, TX. asked for “Jobs for my husband and me so we can pay bills and have a good Christmas for our sweet baby boy!” Mindy in Kansas City wants a big family dinner with lots of presents and not have to worry about a job this year. Betsy in Indiana wants her son to come home safe from the war. “For God to be with CPL Greg Stultz whom was killed year serving our country,” she posted on Santa’s wall.

Sarah in Gainesville asked for her town to be a better one for the homeless this year. “Last year, our downtown businesses complained so much, the homeless shelter had to limit to feed only 150 people a day, even during the holidays. I hope this year, our downtown business owners can soften their hearts and love thy neighbors. And if not, instead of serving at the shelter this year, my son and I will be serving food on the corner like last year.”

And of course the Gulf Oil spill was on several of Santa’s fans minds who wanted a solution. Llyn wants Santa to bring, “…a patent on how to recycle all that floating oil into energy and then the money to put the shorelines back like they were…That’s All!”  Roxanne in Topeka wrote, “The gulf oil spill cleaned up, the financial situation cleaned up and people back to work, and bring all our military people home!”

How about you? What do you want for Christmas?
